Liverpool carried on their good form in the league with a commanding win at Brighton.
Make-shift centre-back Emre Can opened the scoring with a header on the half hour before Roberto Firmino added a second moments later following a brilliant Liverpool counter-attack.
Simon Mignolet denied Glenn Murray from point-blank range and the Reds took full advantage with Firmino finishing off another wonderful counter-attack.
The home side had faint hope when Murray scored a penalty but Philippe Coutinho’s free-kick under the wall put the game beyond doubt.
Lewis Dunk’s own goal completed the rout as Liverpool rose to fourth in the league.
