RB Leipzig are lining up a new contract for Liverpool target Timo Werner – but insist they are under no pressure to sell him.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Europe after hitting 21 goals in 31 Bundesliga outings last term.
He scored five goals in five games for club and country already this season and rumours are circulating that Real Madrid have now joined Liverpool in the race to sign him.
Werner remains under contract until 2020 but Leipzig chairman Oliver Mintzlaff has revealed they are lining up a new deal to ward off interest from other clubs.
When asked about a new contract for Werner, Mintzlaff told Sky Deutschland: “This is certainly a priority. But it is also not the case that we are now drifting.
“Timo Werner is still contracted until 2020, and no exit clause and feels happy with us.
“We play in the Champions League and we offer Timo the chance to make the next step. We are totally relaxed.”
