Pep Guardiola lauded his record-breaking Manchester City team as they brushed aside Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

City’s 4-0 win against the Swans extended their winning streak to 15 consecutive league games – a Premier League record – and helped to maintain their 11 point lead at the top of the table.

Guardiola and his players’ efforts have seen Arsenal removed from the history books, having seen their 14-game winning streak in 2002 surpassed.

And with his side seemingly cruising towards the league title, Guardiola took time to savour the moment.

“It means a lot,” Guardiola told talkSPORT.

“We are so happy because our job depends on us winning. If we win we are happy in our jobs and in our lives.

“In history there have been some amazing teams like Liverpool in the eighties, [Manchester] United with Sir Alex Ferguson or with Chelsea and Jose Mourinho and a lot of good teams.

“And we are the first one to win 15 games in a row. Of course, that would make sense if we win the title when we broke the record.

“This record will be broken but it will not be easy. Because 15 games in the Premier League in that period is so complicated.

“Of course, we were lucky in the right moments and we won games in the last minute. I remember at Bournemouth, in the beginning, but it means a lot.

“The faith and the desire to win again and again is amazing. We are going to try and not stop that feeling; for the fans watching us.”
