Real Madrid are closing in on a deal to land Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of both Arsenal and Chelsea.
The Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper is out of contract in the summer leading to questions marks regarding his long-term future.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea want to bring the 23-year-old to London but it appears that Madrid are in the driving seat to sign him.
According to Marca, the Bernabeu giants are ready to pay around £18m to sign the talented youngster in January rather than wait until the summer for a free transfer.
Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has come under increasing pressure with his side fourth in the La Liga table, eight points behind arch rivals and league leaders Barcelona.
As such, new signings are expected when the window opens and it looks like a new goalkeeper is top of the wish list with current first choice Keylor Navas set to make way for Arrizabalaga.
But while the news may not be good for Arsenal and Chelsea, their Premier League rivals Manchester United can breathe a sigh of relief as any successful move for Arrizabalaga should end Madrid’s long-term interest in David De Gea.
