Slaven Bilic says West Ham sacking a 'logical move' and he has 'no hard feelings' towards club

Slaven Bilic has told talkSPORT he has no complaints and no hard feelings over his sacking as West Ham manager.

The Croatian was axed on Monday morning after a 4-1 defeat to Liverpool at the London Stadium over the weekend left the club in the relegation zone.

The Hammers finished seventh and 11th under Bilic in his two full seasons in charge but he admits this term has been not good enough and ending his reign is a ‘logical move’.

Speaking shortly after his departure was announced, he said: “There are no hard feelings at all. We didn’t start this crucial season well.

“We had a great or very good first season. We knew the second one would be a difficult one with moving to the new stadium and all the difficulties we had and we coped with that in the end really good and finished middle of the table.

“This season we hoped we would make that step forward and we just didn’t make it. As in many clubs in the Premier League or Europe, the manager is the one that pays the price for it.

“You always believe in yourself that you can turn it around, otherwise I wouldn’t be in this job or in this level, but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand the move that the club makes. It is a very logical move.”

And Bilic says he will look back on his time in charge of the club with nothing but fondness.

“The fans were brilliant to me from the start to the end,” he said.

“This job for me was more than a job. It was also personal, because of my relationship with the club.

“My first game was against a team from Andorra, it was a full house so you have got to respect that, and nothing will change that.”
